The week of dresses – Part 1
Do you ever look at your closet and feel this weird guilt when you see dresses you never wear? You know the ones. The “I bought this for a wedding/event because I didn’t want to be seen wearing the same thing twice, and now it’s buried in the back of the closet fated to never be worn again” dress.
I definitely had a few of those. And I’m also really not the biggest dress person. I grew up as a tomboy with pretty banged-up legs, which are anything but graceful when bare. So I naturally shy away from leg exposure.
Since I’m already on the way to making my clothes work harder, longer, I thought that finding new ways to wear dresses would be a fun challenge.
Enter #TheWeekOfDresses.
If you’re familiar with @leevosburgh’s 10×10 challenge, you’ll get the hang of this pretty easily.
Here’s how it works:
- For 7 days, every outfit needs to incorporate a dress (or skirt) you don’t usually wear.
- Get creative: add pants, tights, shirts, sweaters, and accessories to style them for your everyday.
- Have fun!
Rule 3 is the most important one – this shouldn’t feel awful or weird. Make the challenge your own! If you don’t have 7 dresses, use skirts! Or, do a mini-challenge for less days. Either way, it’s another fun way to make your clothes work harder and discover new ways to wear things. I admit, I’m still not a big dress person, but it’s been feeling good to test the waters and try new styles. Maybe just not 7 days in a row next time! Haha
The real fun is going to start in Week 2 – where I’ll be making outfits wearing only the accent pieces used in #TheWeekOfDresses! This may or may not be a good idea…
