10 outfits to try with sneakers this fall

I never understood the sneaker thing. I saw other people doing it, but somehow could never grasp the concept of wearing sneakers with non-athletic clothes, even if I owned them.
And then it happened: I saw a photo on Pinterest of an amazing skirts + sneakers outfit, and I decided I was determined to see how to get better use of casual shoes in my closet.
A few seasons ago, I was gifted Alice + Whittles sneakers, which are made from fair trade, sustainably sourced natural rubber, and post-luxury auto industry leather upholstery waste. Yep, it’s a mouthful.
Alice + Whittles first came out into the world with natural rubber boots (I own the minimalist ankle boots!) and expanded their collection to these sneakers with just as much attention to their supply chain as their first collection. While they’re not vegan, they’re keeping trash from the landfill and waterways, so it’s a big step in the right direction – as well as ensuring the use of all natural materials which will biodegrade over time.
These sneakers are what I’d call “fashion sneakers,” which means they’re beautiful for walking in, but not a workout sneaker! They pair so well with more dressy items because of the leather uppers, which provides a classy touch to the athletic silhouette.

3 foolproof tips for styling sneakers:

- I find they look more put-together if my jeans are cuffed a little bit, showing some ankle as a transition! It helps things look more streamlined.
- Wearing a piece of clothing (top, sweater, belt, pants) that matches the colour of your sneakers can help the whole outfit come together and feel more coordinated!
- Just be confident! Turns out my biggest hurdle was simply thinking I couldn’t pull it off. Once I said “yes I can!” all the pieces fell into place.

Agreed. For some reason I’ve always felt like this is something not for me and it would be something I couldn’t pull off, but I’m going to try and pull it off!
yes!!! Try it!
LOVE the striped tee, short-sleeve denim button-down, and patterned blazer. Links please!
So sorry, they’re older pieces! The blazer is thrifted, the striped tee is quite a few years old from Hutchison, and the denim button-down is from Tradlands – but Tradlands does have a ton of amazing, quality button-downs always, so you can still check them out here!
